THOMAS COOK'S CALL CENTRE AT FALKIRK PROVIDES A PLEASING AND EFFICIENT PLACE TO WORK IN A REDUNDANT MANUFACTURING BUILDING.

The call centre for Thomas Cook provides dynamic and flexible space. The original building was extended by the landlord to the requirements of the client as part of the project, allowing the interior to be reconfigured to provide an efficient and effective working environment.

Desk layouts avoid regular grids, using radial patterns instead, to avoid the regimentation experienced in many call centres. A deep raised floor is utilised to carry both services and a displacement ventilation system, avoiding the need for a false ceiling or suspended services, thus reducing costs and construction time. The building also provides training and ancillary support space.

The Falkirk project was awarded the BIFM ‘Office of the Year’ and ‘Most Innovative Building Award’ as well as a commendation from the Times Gestetner Top 100 Offices Awards.
