Nick Kemp - Managing Director
Nick has over thirty years experience as an architect in the commercial sector, and was responsible for establishing BDG McColl in Edinburgh. He has worked in particular on office, research laboratory, manufacturing and distribution facility and retail projects for blue chip clients from around the world, and has experience at a senior level of private and public sector works up to a value of £350 million.
Nick strongly believes in creating buildings and interiors that are not only exciting to the eye, but are also stimulating to use, and importantly that add value to each client's operations.
Nick has specialised in particular in the design of office buildings and interiors, and has a particular interest and expertise in how their design is affected by the social and behavioural aspects of organisations and their employees.
Ian Stewart - Technical Director
A founding member of the BDG McColl office in Edinburgh, Ian has been responsible for many of BDG McColl's key architectural and interiors projects both in the UK and in Europe. Ian is an architect with over twenty years of experience and has worked on a variety of commercial projects including offices, hi-tech facilities, and industrial buildings, as well as projects in the retail and education sectors. For Ian, buildings are about people, and should be designed from the inside out, and from the outside in, creating a holistic solution at an economic cost.
Darren Cartlidge - Projects Director
Darren was formerly a Director in the London and Hong Kong offices of architects Terry Farrell & Partners prior to joining BDG McColl. At Farrell's he undertook a number of high profile projects, including the Kowloon Station Development and the Headquarters for the British Consulate in Hong Kong. Whilst working in London he was responsible for leading the teams for the new Home Office and the Deep in Hull.
Darren specialises in providing strategic advice, implementing change, and in project delivery. His experience has combined successfully in a variety of high profile mixed-use, residential, cultural and arts-related projects from masterplanning through to implementation. Since joining BDG McColl he has, in particular, been responsible for leading the team for the new Veterinary School for the University of Edinburgh.
Rodi McLean - Head of Interiors
Rodi joined BDG McColl in 2006, and has already established a reputation for creating distinctive interiors and working environments. With more than fifteen years experience he leads the interior design and space planning team, working directly with clients to guide them through the process from a client's first ideas to the delivery of the completed project. Rodi knows that this is not just a process of creating new environments, but one of listening to and delivering our clients' needs.
